cmr story.....Introduction

cmr story “  ( Sunday release )            Page 1                  dt. 24th july 2011.

                                                     Introduction.
Dear clan members,

‘CMR Story’ is a tale of two families of Chinnamanur village, closely related by virtue of closed-loop arranged marriages within relations, resulting in teen-age couples - a habit that continued for hundred years, covering about five to six generations, since AD 1800.

Tracing the roots of our family trees using two family charts in my possession, I found that it starts with Srivatsa clan (gothram) Narayanan and Bharatwaja clan (gothram) Egyanarayanan.

Our story deals with our ancestors who lived their full life, confined to a small world of five villages called ‘Pancha Gramam’ in Madurai district of Tamil Nad.
They are, Chinnamanur; Vathlakundu; Thenkarai (cholavandan); Melmangalam and Periakulam.

Our story starts from early 19th century and ends by mid 20th century, by which time our ancestral villages were becoming history, the later generations migrating to bigger cities.

For the high-tech generation of 2000 AD, for whose sake this family history is written, it will be difficult for them to even imagine how the life style was two hundred years before.

Besides, it is more important to know about the glorious past of our mother land first and on Madurai next.

With this purpose in mind, I have designed my narrative to include all the relevant details, thus making it look like one end-less mega serial but I do hope it will be educative and enlightening.

I dedicate this to the memory of my beloved brother R.Krishnamoorthy, who was my child-hood Guru, friend, philosopher and guide who in practice was a father figure for all his four younger brothers.
The photo below take in 1941 shows Gopal (age 3 ) & Krishnamoorthy (age 7)

With Love,
